In 1998 Nerve
Events (Pat and Paul) started a journey which has taken many paths over the
last 16 years. One of the benefits of our business has been all the amazing
competitions we have been given the opportunity to create and work on for many
clients, and with those events came a lot of media and opportunities to film
the occasion.
In those
“early days” the TV production houses supplied us with copies of the events on
Beta-Cam and then VHS…. Interesting times which sometimes meant the tape got snagged
in the VCR and lost… , you know the story , then along came DVD and this opened
new doors to share and view the shows, then came social media. This plus the
fact that we know enjoy ADSL lines has just made life an absolute party with
respect to sharing and letting all those that participate in the events enjoy
the event after the fact …. For eternity….
Over the
last month we have been taking great opportunity of this technology and created
a YOU TUBE channel for Nerve Events , of which I have loaded as much event
footage (there are still loads of events that I do not have the tapes) as I can
for the purpose of History and Nostalgia , we want to share the events with the
thousands who have been a part of the ride in one way or the other. To this end
you as the viewer can share with your friends and families, many of the “surfers”(kiters/SUPers/Longboarders/Pro
Surfers/) filmed are now fathers and mothers of kids who are already starting
their own surfing careers. Some of the competitors are grand-parents, so this
is a gift for you all to share and enjoy, to laugh and sometimes even bury your
head in embarrassment, thrills and spills captured for eternity but it is all damn
good
My next
project is to work on the VHS and Beta Tapes, to convert them and
upload to the channel, I have also come across other videos of a historic
nature that were captured on VHS on SATV like more of the Gunston 500, SA
Longboard champs and others and will endeavour to upload them as well.
